Someone said on BBC Radio 4's "Woman's Hour" yesterday that Margaret Thatcher won "stunningly" in 1979. No, she didn't. No, she didn't! NO, SHE DIDN'T! I wish BBC interviewers would understand.Six out of ten voters voted against her, but our 19th century voting system gave her a stunning majority. Just imagine what "The Sun" newspaper would say about a third world politician who took power supported by only four out of ten voters!
